Robin Ishmael is responsible for overall management of the firm. Her responsibilities include operational, legal and financial direction and oversight. She is also responsible for managing the firm’s Transaction Execution desk. Robin has been in the loan sale advisory business for 18 years and has managed the execution of over $30 billion of whole-loan transactions. Prior to forming Garnet in 2004, she held senior positions at Société Générale and Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. Since forming Garnet, Robin has managed the growth of the firm from a loan sale advisory start-up to the industry leader position that it enjoys today. Robin received a B.A. from Manhattanville College, and an M.B.A. from the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Lou DiPalma manages Garnet’s client-origination and portfolio-sales efforts. He has been involved in over 500 such transactions; his asset brokerage experience includes credit cards, installment loans, mortgage and commercial loan products. In 1987, Lou helped build Cohane Rafferty’s loan portfolio sales and advisory business, where he worked for 15 years until shortly after the firm’s acquisition by Lehman Brothers. Lou was then a founding member of the Keefe, Bruyette & Woods loan sales group (2002-04) prior to starting Garnet Capital. Lou is a leading figure in the marketplace for all types of whole loan asset trades. He has written for and been widely quoted in numerous industry publications including American Banker, The Financial Times (London), and Collections and Credit Risk. He is a frequent speaker at industry-sponsored events and has chaired Source Media’s National Credit Risk Conference. He has a B.S. from St. Lawrence University and a Masters in Banking from the American Institute of Banking.

Sean McVity manages Garnet’s financial advisory practice and directs the firm’s international business, including Garnet Las Americas in Latin America. Sean started his career in the capital markets at First Boston in 1986, and entered the secondary loan-sales market in 1990 when he moved to Citicorp as the Director of Research on Citibank’s Corporate Loan Trading Desk. In 1991, he left Citicorp to become a founding member of Meenan, McDevitt & Company (MMC). At MMC, Sean was a Managing Director and head of the firm’s Structuring and Sales Group. After MMC’s acquisition by Société Générale in 1998, he became head of SG’s Portfolio Sales Group, with primary responsibility for new-business origination. As a founding member of the Keefe, Bruyette & Woods loan sales group (2002-04), Sean was responsible for business development and led the development of a successful practice providing investment banking services to the debt-purchasing industry. A leading figure in the loan sales market, Sean has chaired numerous industry conferences, and has been published in the Journal of Lending and Credit Risk Management, Collections & Credit Risk, the Institutional Investor Bank Letter and other publications. He holds an A.B. cum laude from Princeton University and an M.B.A from Columbia Business School and is a licensed Real Estate Broker.

Maury Hartigan is an Advisor to Garnet Capital.

Maury joined Garnet following 43 years in financial services. Prior to joining Garnet, he served as CEO of The Risk Management Association, the financial services industry's premier risk professional association. At RMA, Maury led the expansion of the firm’s international business as well as the introduction of several new products and services in credit, market and operational risk. Previously, Maury held senior positions in both client and risk management at PNC Financial Services and at Chemical Bank (now JPMorgan Chase), where he was Head of Wholesale Client Management, Head of International Banking and Chair of the Credit Risk Policy Committee.

Maury received an AB from Georgetown University and an MBA from the City University of New York. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He has served as a director of public and private companies including The Petty Company, Shields Healthcare , William H. Sadlier Company, and the American Association of Bank Directors.

Bob Toppe  directs Garnet’s consumer and residential loan sale advisory business. Mr. Toppe brings over 25 years of consumer and mortgage finance experience to Garnet Capital. Prior to joining Garnet in 2008, he served 6 years at Lehman Brothers. At Lehman, he acted as loan sale advisor, traded as a principal, and securitized a variety of performing and nonperforming mortgage and consumer loans. Mr. Toppe was also intimately involved with Lehman’s student-loan origination platform, including capital markets, risk management, product development, pricing, credit & business development. Previously, he co-founded and managed the loan sale advisory business of Cohane Rafferty, from 1989 until Cohane was acquired by Lehman in 2002. Mr. Toppe has been directly responsible as lead deal manager for hundreds of loan portfolio transactions. He holds a BS and MA in Engineering from Cornell, as well as an MBA from Cornell.
